Leonora Indira King
It is with terribly heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Leonora Indira King. She was a pillar to our community and an inspiration to every person who was lucky enough to meet her. Four years ago she founded the Parc-Ex Curry Collective, as an avenue to uplift and support the women of her neighbourhood by celebrating their culture, creativity, and power. She was a force of nature and a light in the life of all who knew her. As we pass through a period of profound mourning and grief, we will be temporarily pausing the activities of the collective until further notice. Despite the incredible progress she made in building this organisation in only a few years, she had not finished what she started. The pain we feel is only deeper knowing how big her dreams were, and all she had planned to accomplish in the coming years. As we navigate the future of the collective in the coming months, it is with unwavering determination to do justice to her memory that we will ensure the continuation of her work and fulfill the next steps to see her vision flourish. The love and passion Leonora put out into the world is multiplied by the hundreds of people she touched. Now we need the help of every single person who cared for her to show up and make sure that her dream will not end here.
We will need all kinds of people, help and resources to ensure the future of the collective. If you are ready to help or would like to share your thoughts, please write to simonekchen@gmail.com. For now, please note that we are not able to monitor the official email adresse of curry collective until further notice. Thank you to Faiz, Amanda and the team of Brique par Brique who are committed to supporting the curry collective team during this difficult transition period.
We hope you will take the time to process this difficult news and move forward gently with your loved ones into the new year.
Sincerely,
Simone, Deepali, Naveen, Jacob and the cheffes of the Parc-Ex Curry Collective
