We are deeply grateful for all the messages of support we have received over the past few months. Thank you for your patience while we have been working behind the scenes to find our way forward.

In this post, we hope to share

1) a few updates on media coverage and ceremonies held in memory of Leonora

2) information on how we are organizing the collective and

3) how you can get or stay involved.

Media Coverage & Ceremonies

The devastating news of Leo’s passing and the many contributions she made have been covered in the media. Click on the links below to view/listen:

Leonora’s commitment to supporting the Parc Ex community has been recognized by several politicians including Andrés Fontecilla, Member of the National Assembly for Laurier-Dorion. Justin Trudeau also awarded Leonora King the King Charles III Coronation medal in Canada on Thursday, February 27th 2025.

On February 22nd 2025, people gathered, in large numbers, to celebrate Leo’s huge heart, rich life, and community impact. Global News covered the event – watch it here

How we’ve been moving things forward

While we are still processing the loss of our beloved founder, we are taking action to honour her wishes and continue her meaningful work. With the guidance of Leonora’s mother, Nadira King, and the leadership of Simone Chen (a longtime collective member), an expanded board of directors has been appointed. The purpose of the board is to oversee the reopening of the Parc-Ex Curry Collective and to ensure that Leonora’s vision continues to grow and nourish the community.

The board’s 7 members are:

  • Simone Chen
  • Rose Ndjel
  • Deepali Patel
  • Sydney Bhalla
  • Marcelle Partouche Gutierrez
  • Carole Muriithi
  • Monica Paraghamian

Nadira King is also serving as an honorary member of the board.

The board’s current priorities are:

  • To create a strategic and financial plan for the coming years
  • Develop a fundraising strategy
  • Hire a coordinator to get operations going again
  • Host our Annual General Meeting (AGM) this summer

If you have any questions about the board’s role or work, please don’t hesitate to write us at parcexcurrycollective@gmail.com

How you can get/stay involved

In keeping with the spirit of Leonora, we know that we can only do this together, as a collective and as a community. If you are interested in supporting :

  • Donate to Parc Ex Curry Collective: recurring monthly donations go a long way in supporting the sustainability of the collective.
  • Spread the word about the Curry Collective in your communities.
  • If you are or know of an accountant or non-profit lawyer that would like to give us a hand, we need this expertise in our team !
  • Look out for the date of the AGM if you want to get more involved!
